I love creating art because it helps me slow down and be present. Creating feels grounding, freeing, and deeply connecting.

I’m drawn to watercolor for its softness and movement~the way pigment blooms, blends, and sometimes surprises me. I don’t try to control it completely; instead, I work with it, trusting the flow and allowing each piece to evolve naturally. I also incorporate mixed media to bring in texture, depth, and story. I layer papers, marks, inks, and found elements, building meaning with each addition. Some layers are bold and visible, while others remain subtle, creating a sense of discovery for viewers.
Where do you find inspiration?I’m inspired by the balance between spontaneity and structure ~ between what is planned and what unfolds on its own. My travels play a meaningful role in shaping this vision; the colors of new landscapes, the textures of unfamiliar places, and the quiet moments of discovery all find their way into my work. My process is both intuitive and intentional, often reflecting emotion, memory, and a deep sense of presence gathered from the places I’ve been and the experiences I carry with me.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000 in prize money, I would thoughtfully invest in both stability and creativity. I would make small improvements to my craft cottage, creating a more functional space to inspire both myself and others. I would also use a portion to pay off small debt, allowing me to move forward with peace of mind. Finally, I would purchase quality supplies and materials so I can begin offering classes ~ sharing my love of art while building a community centered on connection, learning, and expression.
