What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love the visual arts. I am a wood carver but I do occasionally make furniture and wooden boxes. My favorite type of art to create is abstract carvings but I find myself doing impressionist pieces more often. I think it's because I see the things I'd like to carve before I even start. I love all forms of art and I just keep learning more.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration during nature hikes; I love attempting to recreate the patterns I see within nature. Sometimes it's the wood itself that provides inspiration by showing me what would like to come out while I am carving.

What would you do with $25,000?

If I won the 25,000 I would pursue adding more woodworking skills in order to expand my mind and career. I would attend the Krenov school of woodworking because I would like to learn furniture building and combine it with the freeform style of my carvings. I would also use some of the money to pursue my dream of teaching art to children. I also have a dream of owning my own home someday so I would save five thousand towards that goal.
