I love the feeling of creating something tangible from an abstract idea. I am left with a surreal sense of accomplishment.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Portrait and figurative sculpture. I find the human form truly beautiful, from thick to thin, slender to muscular, male or female, clothed or unclothed. I love the way it moves and the way it expresses emotions, not only through facial expressions, but also in its bodily posture. Every part of the human form provides a wealth of inspiration. The body in and of itself tells a story unique to each individual without a spoken word. I work with low-fire clay finished with bronze overlay.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere there are people.
What would you do with $25,000?Currently, I am sculpting the entire genealogical line, originating with Adam and Eve, through King David, and ending with Jesus, told from the perspective of Hebrew and Christian texts and informed by canonical and noncanonical sources. Such a large undertaking requires an even larger installation for an effective display, and $25,000 would be a nice amount to enable construction.
