I understand the world through observation. Painting is my way to express what I see in others and connect with people.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I’ve always been very drawn to realistic portrait painting in oil. I’m interested not only in capturing a person’s physical appearance, but also in expressing their essence. Recently, I’ve started to incorporate abstract elements into my portraits, using that more expressive side to convey the emotions that person evokes in me. It’s a way of combining what is seen with what is felt.
Where do you find inspiration?Mainly in other artists, whether they are musicians, actors, or painters. Each of them makes me feel different emotions, and those feelings are what naturally come out when I paint. In the end, my inspiration comes from what others make me feel and how I connect with their way of expressing themselves.
What would you do with $25,000?I think I would love to invest in having my own space. Right now I paint in my bedroom, which is small, so working on large pieces becomes uncomfortable and limiting. Having a proper space would make a huge difference in my creative process.
