My work is an attempt to understand the world rather than a pronouncement of understanding. I make art because I have to try to understand.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I like to collage with my own drawings and paintings on scavenged recycled materials. I also make sculptures out of a combination of ceramics and scavenged materials.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere in my daily life. I’m a father, a husband and a wanderer. I teach biology, chemistry, physics, and math. I collect images, thoughts, and inspiration from people, places, and things I interact with. Concepts come from books I read, music I listen to, or lecture notes from classes I teach. I just go with what occurs to me at the time and work till I am satisfied. I don’t usually start with a plan.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it for some of the costs to build a studio in my backyard.
