I love drawing and painting, in different types of media. I love the detail that can be accomplished with pen and ink but also love the fluidity and expression that can be in painting or charcoal. The narrative can be expressed in so many different ways! I am drawn to the figure and natural organic shapes and imagery. They all come together to tell a story.
Where do you find inspiration?I see art in everything. My mind automatically translates the world around me into texture and colors. I find a lot of inspiration in narratives, lyrics, and poetry. Personal storytelling in its various forms truly inspires me.
What would you do with $25,000?Some of this money would go towards medical debt I’ve acquired over the last 6 months. After that, I really want to grow as an artist and move forward in my practice. I have a series of works I’d like to devote time and materials to that are about being vulnerable in a constantly threatening and intimidating world. Part of the time would be spent working out in nature. Studying botanicals and organic compositions and exploring ways that I can have those elements interacting with the figure.
