What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love creating work that challenges me and allows me to grow as a person and artist. That is part of the reason why I use so many mediums, because of my inherent need to explore. I get bored working with one subject or item for too long, causing my skill repertoire to span from all forms of fine arts to music and even poetry. It's always a joy to see how my work impact others. Seeing their admiration for something I made with my own two hands is very rewarding.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find my inspiration everywhere, often in the smaller details. One time I was walking with a friend and I became enamored with the moss and cracks embedded along the sidewalk. I started discussing how much I loved these insignificant and messy details, as they each tell their own individual stories. It was interesting hearing how he usually overlooked the specifics of this environment, while it was something that immediately jumped out to me. My other creative friends also inspire me endlessly.

What would you do with $25,000?

I am currently pursuing my artistic passion by attending art school at the Art Institute of Chicago. Now finishing my freshman year, I have fallen in love with Chicago and the creativity that is fostered within these walls. I have also grown so much as an artist and person. I'm desperate to come back to this school next fall, however the price is not feasible at the moment regarding my financial situation. Winning this award would allow me to continue my studio arts degree and art dreams.
