I create work to tell stories with distorted lenses. Paths of transformation and human connection, defining life through flamingos & neon.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I create a multitude of multimedia and mixed media work, but prefer to work on canvas, using acrylic and oil pastel to develop rich and densely layered pieces wherein the figures overlap to show the passage of time and intersections between what makes us. Most of my work tells stories of my transition.
Where do you find inspiration?I primarily find inspiration through my history, and the interests I’ve had. Using allegory’s to bring structure and form to an image of fluidity and gender challenging norms. I’m inspired by balance and grace, power and near death exploration, beauty and grittiness. MotoGP, Las Vegas landscapes and history, personal stories of existence in the city of neon, outlaw motorcycle culture and beautiful flamingo totems.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to invest in my small and humble creative business 35 Flamingos. I would use a portion of the funds to get a website up and running with a functional market place, as well as investing in some marketing to start generating revenue from sales of the work.
