Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

For years I spent most of my time painting pop culture characters and presenting them at comic book conventions. I’ve done over 115 shows all over the country and I’ve had this paintings displayed on tshirts in other countries and shared by celebrities. However, to me it was more of an out of body experience. It wasn’t me. I much prefer to paint what inspires me to challenge myself and create something I’ve never seen before.

Where do you find inspiration?

Often in the most unexpected ways. Usually it’s when I see an image or something that sparks my imagination. It could be the clouds in the sky or the way the sun hits a wall. Most times I’ll see something and take a photo or save that image because I know I’ll be inspired by it later. Or never even. I might never use that image but I’ve always got it in my album if I need it.

What would you do with $25,000?

Immediately I think of how I’d be able to replace my supplies. I had a flood happen in my basement last year and I lost my printer, all of my inventory, my tools, laptop etc. I had to shut down my store and stop taking orders and doing shows. This, along with moving losing my day job and family trials, I’ve had to put my art on hold for the last year or so. I still paint when I can but.. so I’d definitely love to replace what was lost.
