I create art as a way to leave a mark in the world in a tangible way. I hope to express a part of myself that can be shared and loved by all
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I like making knives. Out of steel, stone, and glass. I recently unofficially set the record for "Longest Knapped Glass Blade", and I am known for knapping obsidian swords. Although my most notorious work is my knapped blades, I still have a passion for making steel knives.
Where do you find inspiration?I find it inspiring how bladed tools have been a part of the history of all cultures and how revered they have been throughout time. A well crafted blade has always been respected and admired while remaining one of the most useful tools in history. There are many talented bladesmiths and knappers around today, and I am inspired by many of them. I find that knives and swords are a wonderful canvas that people are naturally drawn to, a tool which has become an extension of our bodies.
What would you do with $25,000?Most of the money I have made from my art has gone back in to tools and materials. I would utilize this money to step up my shop even further and hopefully allow me to produce higher quality and larger pieces.
