What is your favorite type of art to create?

Contemplative, abstract work using natural materials, particularly paper, whose fragility I find endlessly meaningful. I'm drawn to images that hold stillness, that ask something of the viewer rather than explain themselves. I'm currently deepening my study of thangka painting in Nepal, a centuries-old Tibetan tradition where every image is conceived as a meditation object. That meeting point between sacred artistic lineage and my own inner work is where I feel most fully myself as an artist.

Where do you find inspiration?

From my inner life: meditation, dreams, Buddhist study, and whatever I'm genuinely moving through at the time. I don't separate art from practice. When something arises I bring it to the studio and let it find form. Nature is always present too: its cycles of change, its quiet fragility, the way it keeps transforming effortlessly. The work is how I make sense of being human, and how I stay honest with myself.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would use it to continue my studies of thangka painting in Nepal. I'm drawn to the deeper question that such practice keeps opening: what can visual art express about the human condition that language cannot? Grief, impermanence, the nature of mind — these are not abstract ideas for me but lived experiences. This support would allow me to keep exploring that territory seriously, as both an artist and a practitioner.
