I carve. I paint. I conjure. My Korean ancestors move through my hands — their spirits live in every cut, every color: sacred Art.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
There’s the Yin and the Yang. I carve into one, collage the other. The gouging is visceral — forgotten layers of time surfacing like fossils. Then I resurrect those fragments into something new. A phoenix rising. That back and forth. I want the objects to soothe and relax the viewer. The work makes one stop and take a breath. It takes a long time to make I am present.
Where do you find inspiration?Water and the way it dances with light. The ocean. The Mediterranean. Islands. Temples. Halos. Mandalas. The sacred geometry hiding in nature. My hands. Korean ancestry. The space between healing and living. Dreaming. Liminal space. Rainbows. Waterfalls. Clouds. NATURE. Love. Heart breaks and hearts leaping. Hugs. A pretty sunrise and sunset. The moon and stars. Comets. Eclipses. Planets. Earth, trees, moss and mushrooms. The create on a cold day. Softness of new petals and leaves. Music.
What would you do with $25,000?$10K drills a well in Madagascar — clean water is my mission for communities that lack it. $10K moves me into a bigger studio so I can make more work. $5K builds my online store so every sale funds the next well. Art as activism.
