I love to capture wildlife in rawest moments. To me, an animal’s soul isn't just a concept—it’s a presence you can feel when you truly look at them. I believe eyes are the windows to the soul, acting as a mirror to their intelligence, history, and raw emotion. In my art, I work to capture that spark because I like to let the viewer feel the world from the animal's point of view and see into their soul. It’s about recognizing that they experience the world with a depth that is often overlooked.
Where do you find inspiration?My art is a study of life in motion. From the quiet intensity of a buck moving through the misty mountains of Highlands, North Carolina, to the explosive power and precision of bird dogs in the Georgia brush, I seek the spirit of the animal. When I’m on the Maine coast, my focus shifts to the resilient life of the Atlantic—the sharp eye of an osprey or the rugged grace of a harbor seal. I’m not just painting scenes; I’m capturing the pulse of the wild.
What would you do with $25,000?If I won $25,000, it would go straight into expanding my gallery. My vision isn’t just for my wildlife art, but for the incredible talent of Western North Carolina. I can’t move forward without helping the artists at my gallery move forward, too. Each artist I represent is an inspiration to me and proof of the spirit of Appalachian mountain people, we grow together. This is for the community that fuels my brush.
