My art is deeply personal and based on water & walls. I start with my photography, mix in my feelings, & create without my corrective lens.

My art is considered abstract, but I see it as a reflection of my feelings. I focused on realism for a long time—thirty-plus years of painting marine life, florals, and wildlife. I'm tired of recreating reality. My reality these days consists of stress, sadness, fear, joy, hope, and happiness. I find this an odd time to be alive and a creator. The world around me still inspires me, but I express my vision with feelings. It's liberating.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere, but usually in nature. I use my photography for inspiration. Sometimes it's a man-made object, like a wall, or leaves floating on the water. I never know which photograph will fit my mood later. Every so often, I dream of a painting as well.
What would you do with $25,000?That is one year of health insurance for me. I currently don't have any due to the ACA losing funding.
