Advanced to the Top 10

Jen Hammer

The act of creating is essential to me being human. I love being self taught and experimenting with different media to see what will arise.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love to create album holiday trees. I’ve recreated several Radiohead, a few Muse and a Flaming Lips holiday tree instead of the traditional Christmas tree. I also love expressing the vibe of live music through color and shape with acrylic paint and canvas. In addition I create cityscapes with reflections, often exhibiting the human condition of being alone but at the same time feeling connected to the city that you live in.

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration arrives through the celebration of life. Live music scenes, marathons, cityscapes, beaches, and reflections, and connection to each other and to nature are all inspirations to me.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would use the money to buy materials to create a whole series of album holiday trees, and display them to raise money for Artworking in Madison.
