Sometimes feelings are too big to relay any other way. I hope someone identifies with feelings in my art to feel less alone in the world.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I thrive off creating illustrations that tell a story in a single, still image. Most years, I create a custom Christmas card for our family that others say they look forward to receiving all year. Since I was in High School, I enjoy improving my drawing and acrylic painting skills. I recently have taught myself to do do glass etching which has been fun to create new pieces I can give as gifts. I enjoy finding new ways to express myself that spark new ideas for art pieces.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my every day interaction and reaction to life. Usually someone will say something that gives me a funny image that I feel compelled to bring into reality. Sometimes, I will have an emotional reaction to something in my every day life that inspires me to create a piece of art in order to convey those feelings towards others. I usually want to express a sense of whimsy with a little bit of darkness which generally captures my overall feelings about life.
What would you do with $25,000?$25,000 would go towards accomplishing two of my long-time goals: One is saving for a down payment on a house to give my family more security. Second is starting a greeting card company. Creating my annual Christmas card is one of my favorite activities and it brings joy to its recipients! It also is motivation to ensure I continue creating. I would love to turn that passion into a company to create general cards for more people to enjoy and provide to those they care about.
