My favorite type of art to create is ceramic art, especially functional pieces. I love to be a part of someone’s daily rituals; a mug for morning coffee or evening tea, a chawan bowl for a matcha ritual, or home decor that’s both beautiful and versatile. Like my soft curve vessel, it is so multifunctional: a fruit bowl, candle vessel, serving dish, statement piece, it can even be a bird bath in the garden. I’m really drawn to creating objects that are not only meaningful but lived with.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration everywhere, but mainly in nature, its organic forms, soft curves, textures, colors and quiet balance. Nothing is exactly repeated; everything holds its own uniqueness. Colors don’t second guess each other, they simply exist together. It’s calm, unrushed, and perfectly imperfect. That natural rhythm and harmony is what I try to capture...creating pieces that feel grounded, intentional, and imperfect.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, I would transform my current space (the garage) into a fully insulated, air-conditioned studio because Florida heat is no joke. I’d invest in so much clay, a wide range of glaze materials to explore the endless colors I’ve been dreaming up, and a new kiln to support my growing work. This would give me the means to bring all my endless ideas from my journals to life, grow my one-woman business, and hopefully even create and open a healing, welcoming space for other creatives!
