William Melvin Kelley (1937-2017) was known as a writer but he has 1,000s of photos no one has seen I'd like to compile into a book/exhibit
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
William Melvin Kelley's main art was the written word, and the sounds words made. But he began to capture images, first with photography abd later video to capture the things he couldn't put into words.
Where do you find inspiration?Kelley found inspiration in music. His close friends tended to be musicians. But he also found beauty all around him. He made art all the time, sometimes with words and a lot of time with his camera.
What would you do with $25,000?$25,000 would go a long way towards archiving his negatives, creating a database and scanning some images. We would also like to create a book out of his images.
