I create art to tell stories. I grew up on story telling in my family at get togethers listening to my elders talk about life and lessons.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art is art that can make connections, that can trigger a memory or make someone feel nostalgic just looking at it. I like to work with any medium I can get my hands on and learn about. But the goal or theme is to always have joy in what im doing or be able to express a feeling that I and others can connect or resonate with.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the people around me. Of the stories or the lessons that life has for me and others around me and how I can translate that. It is therapy for me and its also a way to honor the stories and lives of people around me whether there still in my life or just a memory. I am not a verbal story teller like people I grew up with im a visual one. But I grew up on stories whether they were lessons in life or just good times to share and I want to be able to hold on to them, & share it
What would you do with $25,000?To be given the chance to really lean into my art and be able to be full time. It would help start me on the right path to be able to create without day to day worries. There will always be day to day struggles that's a given. But if I can get a shot at being able to create everyday it would be a dream come true. I've always wanted to be a artist even as a kid.I never gave up on it even if I had to slow down sometimes or put it to the side to make ends meet, but its always been there and will be
