Art has became an outlet I never knew I needed. Focusing my energy on something beautiful has driven my life in a positive direction.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Mixed media has become my favorite style of art, specifically flintknapping. Using stone, wood, and bone to create knives and jewelry is my focus. Utilizing materials found in nature and constructing them in a sleek modern style has been very rewarding. Creating art that is both functional and captivating is the ultimate goal.
Where do you find inspiration?I found art at a very difficult time in my life. Having something challenging like flintknapping to focus on really turned things around for me. There is something special about transforming something so simple, like a rock, into a unique piece of art. Finding beauty during challenging and unsure times reminds us that what we are doing is worth it.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest the money back into my workshop. Being able to upgrade my now very small work space would change everything. I would also be able to purchase new tools and material. This would also allow me to explore different avenues with my art that I haven't been able to yet.
