My sculptures are honest expressions of a lifelong dialogue between myself, the materials and the world around me. Balance is the goal.

I have found that I feel the deepest connection to my art when working with wood. To me, it feels the most in tune with nature and my work is a form of inner reflection, like a meditation—with each piece representing a part of my inner being. The key design elements are nature, balance, symmetry and movement of energy. I prefer relief sculpture as my main focus, attempting to break the 2D wall into a deeper 3 dimensional space.
Where do you find inspiration? My deepest inspiration has always come from nature, using repeated patterns found in my landscape and from the human form. I try to combine that imagery with the aesthetic found in historical art from Mayan, Aztec, Native American, Egyptian and Celtic culture. My goal is to create a feeling of something completely new but with a feeling of familiarity.
What would you do with $25,000?I plan on buying new equipment which would greatly increase my ability to create more artwork. It would also give me money to invest in making maquettes and plans that I could then submit to competitions for large scale public art commissions.
