Narrative… either directly telling a story or a strong indication of something happening. I enjoy painting people, atmosphere and emotion. I’m especially attracted to imagery that reveals tension in modern life: isolation, memory, faith, longing, disconnection, wonder. Sometimes that comes through paint and texture. Sometimes it comes through composition, shadow, and light. Sometimes it comes through the faces of people who are carrying more than words. Art that does not explain but opens a door
Where do you find inspiration?Literally everywhere. Some specifics include other painter…people interacting, nature (trees), and cinema.
What would you do with $25,000?I would focus on creating an exhibit of work I've been thinking about for years. These would be oil paintings based on selected for frames from some of the best, most visual cinematic and painterly scenes throughout world cinema.
