To create fields that allow a deep meditation & force an escape from the bombardment of this marketing world is my why to dance on canvas.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I believe Coulter Jacobs from LA mentioned that his saddest time in life, after losing some family members, sent him into a creative flow that was just all throttle. How that was quite literally how painters of a different era functioned- like Pollock for example. He mentioned how unsustainable that was. I found peace in his saying so… because I found that to be true as well. But that full throttle is what makes this bohemian contemporary approach of nature’s landscapes sustainable for me.

Where do you find inspiration?

Mindful meditation at large and its translation into daily form. All actions have a range of motion necessary to carry out all task- be that picking a vegetable at the grocery store or simply shutting a door. In cutting hair there’s various ways to creat form, build weight, and distribute flow. All of these things are the building blocks I pull inspiration from. I may not be a real life dancer but I do pay attention to the dance of all things around us that builds up our 3D world for my canvas.

What would you do with $25,000?

Put it to work. That’s ultimately what money really is for. For years I’ve made a living in cutting hair. And that money gets spent in that business, whatever nuances in my personal life may find interest in, and the usual monthly bills. But in winning I’d finally have a budget to throw a solo show. After all of these years in hiatus- there’s a largely untapped yearning to show and create again at large. A badge like this would ignite the flame to do so again with the appropriate crew hands.
