Fluid art is my favorite medium because it asks nothing of me. No precision or perfection, just the surrender of color to chance. It lets me be messy, angry, and tender all at once, and still find joy in the way a single hue moves. I started pouring after my mom died, when I was afraid my words would make her loss real. Fluid art let me work through my grief and heal on my own terms. It allowed me create beauty from pain.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration finds me in the people I love, the ones I've lost, and the communities that sustain me. In my mom's memory, my ancestors' strength, and the laughter that carries us through grief. I find inspiration and create from that space inside me, where heartbreak and healing live side by side, and every color is a way of reminding myself that I'm still here, that as long as I'm creating, I'm healing and everything will be okay.
What would you do with $25,000?$25,000 would help ease some of the burden of living with lupus because care comes with a hefty price. I would also use it to help my family. We're all walking through health and housing struggles and being ablento ease that weight, even a little, would mean everything.
