I love making art because it brings my imagination into reality. I am able to express myself in my own language. It heals me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I have been committed to the medium of pen and pencil my entire life. I find it to be a pure expression that can be done in any situation. I also enjoy creating traditional 2D animations and audio/video collages.
Where do you find inspiration?Fundamentally, I find inspiration from the natural world. Birds, trees, flowers and their collective beauty always deliver ideas to me. I am inspired by artists like Hieronymus Bosch, Harry Clarke and Lenora Carrington. I love the writing of George MacDonald, H.G. Wells and William Blake. I listen to music from evey decade, but I am truly inspired by Bo Diddley, Syd Barrett and The Animals.
What would you do with $25,000?This money allow me the freedom to work on my art projects and bring them to completion. For over 10 years I have been writing and illustrating a fantasy novel called 'The Deer Knight'. It is a project that embodies everything I have wanted to bring into the world. It is an homage to late 19th century and early 20th century children's literature and illustration while being something completely modern. I aim to inspire young and old to read and write.
