I create art with the goal of changing the world for the better, through my view as a low middle class adult.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I’ve fallen in love with the manipulation of metal forms, specifically, chasing and repoussé. I love wearable and interactive art, and have just completed a series of broaches in bronze and copper, exploring chases beetles. The art that I want to make more than anything is large scale sculptures out of recycled metals and "waste", exploring the conversion with the metal, and what my art makes people think about. Metals are my favorite art material to work with, but I am eager to explore more.
Where do you find inspiration?First and foremost, people. Growing up my parents both ran their own business selling paper flowers. The fact my parents were able to make it as artists and raise 4 boy inspires me. I also look for any local art show or exhibit I can go to help keep my fire burning. I feel I have more ideas than time and money to create them. There’s inspiration in every moment in life as long as you look for it, right now I feel inspired to try and use my art to change the world.
What would you do with $25,000?When I win I’m going to use the money to build my dream metal smithing studio. While document my journey online I’ll share my knowledge and skills for anyone who wants to watch. I’ve always loved to teach, so my long term goal is to create a space to teach a multitude of mediums with a well selected team of talented individuals.
