Military members are told they must be uniform & squared away at all times. As a veteran I use art to break that mold & express myself.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I prefer to work with 3D Art and sculpture. I find the three dimensional space evokes more emotion and allows my message to convey fully
Where do you find inspiration?I draw inspiration from myself and my lived experiences. Inspiration for me can be spontaneous or can be a slow cook where inspiration comes through the work slowly allowing it to shape itself. This particular piece inspiration came from the assassination of Charlie Kirk and its impact on the United States as it was already in civil turmoil when these events unfolded. The piece is comprised of approximately 2500 army men internally and externally. Army men were used to represent sacrifice.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use a portion of the proceeds to fund my next sculpture, donate to multiple mental health related charities for first responders, veterans and health care workers. With the remaining funds I would try to purchase equipment to grow my studio so I can welcome other veterans to come work with me and to heal along their own personal journeys through art.
