As an artist I have blended my work as a psychotherapist both as a survivor and a professional- I have a calling to share meaning in art.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I enjoy watercolor acrylic as well as found art, yard and public art. Any material can be turned into art, whether it be a mannequin or a really fine piece of watercolor paper. There are no limits to art - I created a mural in West Africa to eliminate guinea worm and paint on found objects -art without boundaries as I spent years in a marriage both loving and trapped and my husband committed suicidal opening doors to make sense of this world thru art through experience, lived & observed.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from my dreams as well as patterns in the sky and textures where forms may emerge and landscape or picture begins to to tap into something and I translate that into a piece. Sometimes it’s a simple as sitting on the toilet and looking at the bath mat and seeing something that actually turns into a painting from just those moments of introspection that are buried somewhere deeply in my unconscious or subconscious and they make couple with dreams or what’s happening in my life .
What would you do with $25,000?I would give it to provide shelter to a man who is in a domestic violence situation, who is also an artist of his own because men find it difficult to go into shelter, and there are a few so few slots anyway and I know this as a clinician having worked as a therapist for over 25 years I think any money that is given to me is meant to be given to the world I don’t think of money, the same way as other people and I know that and got me trouble in places, we need be generative less transactional.
