I have loved to draw since I was young. As I grew I really got into painting also. I have Complex PTSD, painting is therapeutic for me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love to paint with acrylics and either create a painting from a photograph I take (I like photography also), or create something more abstract from my imagination. I also do crafts (egg carving, dioramas). Painting has always remained my favorite, probably from the sense of peace I get from it. A painting is like seeing something through the persons eyes who painted it. You can feel the emotion that goes into it and find a type of empathy for them from it.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the beauty all around me. I look up from where I’m sitting now and my friends two dogs are snoozing on the couch. That inspires me to paint them there, so peaceful. I find inspiration in a beautiful flower on the ground. I find inspiration in the downtown streets of places like Portland, Oregon. I have even found inspiration in drawing my son, who we lost in 2019 to suicide. It’s inspiration because I can feel close to him and lets me feel that connection again.
What would you do with $25,000?That prize would put a roof over my head and possibly get me transportation. (Some paintings, that aren’t quite done, are in storage).
