My work is an exploration of the breadth and depth of human emotions and the experiences that bind us together in our shared humanity.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My current body of work utilizes painting, intaglio prints, drawings, illuminated fused glass windows, and sculpture to explore notions of mortality, vulnerability, loss, and survival.
Where do you find inspiration?Family, friends, & personal experiences inspire me. My work is an investigation of my life and my personal experiences. In The Second Mountain, David Brooks writes that, “Suffering places us in solidarity with others. Suffering calls for a response, it asks us to react”. My goal is to create a visual record that unveils a complex, yet compassionate narrative–one that reflects the innermost strength and determination of the human spirit to overcome, and even embrace our lamentations.
What would you do with $25,000?The funds would help support my studio costs and provide me some financial runway to continue to create the body of work I am currently completing. My studio practice includes glass fusing, painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. The money would help to support this work, the materials, fabrication costs, framing costs, and the fabrication costs of a large scale bronze sculpture in the works.
