I’ve always called street photography my “healthy hobby” since I got out of the military in 2007.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
By far my favorite is street photography and preferably Monochrom. As far as the subject, something that tells a story, whether it’s just going to work or telling a story between friends, that initial candid laugh. Early morning or late at night is my favorite or playing with light and shadows on the street.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration was probably my grandfather, not his style or anything, it’s just my earliest memories are going through old photo albums and I just loved looking at photos. I then picked up the hobby while in the military. But I fell in love with photography when I first visited New York City. It was like my playground, dark, Grundy, and real.
What would you do with $25,000?My son will graduate high school in 2 years. Once that happens I’m going to “retire” and figure out street photography as a business in NYC full time. The money would go towards the move and the dream I already have to become a well know street photographer, one of the most well known.
