The exploration of abstract/ architectural form helps me navigate through experiences, challenging the boundaries between emotion and logic.

The art I find most gratifying to make consists mostly of paintings. I like to work from references of architecture, or work just from my mind. Within each piece regardless of the inspiration, I allow myself space to become reactive to the process. I enjoy being able to move through each panting pushing and pulling, adding and subtracting, challenging my own idea of what I thought I was going to end up creating. Every piece is a surprise, and lesson learned.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my movement through life. I have moved a lot within my life, and I find that a lot of my art focuses on how my perspective has shifted through these journeys. With this area of focus, conversations (with paint) of home, belonging, family, friendships, self, etc take turns rearing their heads. I use abstraction to navigate these ideas, allowing vulnerable topics to be interpreted by an audience.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, a lot could be accomplished. My dream is to have a home, with a barn studio space that would become a collaborative art space. I’d love to have the space cover many different mediums, and have friends and fellow artist be able to teach others their skills, as well as have space to practice themselves. I’d love to include a music space as well. So if I won I’d love to put the money toward achieve this goal.
