As a glassmaker making wearable abstracts of land, sea and sky, I get to participate in the moment when a person sees their own beauty!
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favourite work to make are my wearable glass art pendants designed to illustrate abstract scenes of land, sea and sky. Wearing my pieces is a constant reminder that these elements sustain us; that we are one and the same entity. They remind me that how we treat the earth is how we treat ourselves.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration in the weather, the changing seasons and in nature's palettes and quiet places. I constantly marvel at her ability to shape and mold the delicate detail in microcosms alongside her enormous power to move mountains.
What would you do with $25,000?I am a newly retired Highschool Visual Arts Educator. You can take the teacher out of the school but... I have missed sharing what I love most: Connecting people to their creative sides. So, I have been developing art programming for adults to do just that: Engaging them in enhancing and enjoying their own brand of creativity. The prize money would be a great help in extending the reach of my program.
