I love detaching myself from the hectic realities of life by painting and photography, these mediums are my forms of escapism.

The type of art I find most compelling to create is unplanned and spontaneous. I love when a vision for a piece appears out of thin air, and as I work on it, alterations and additions become a clear necessity toward the end product. Especially in photography, I go out into the world and capture moments that are authentic. I don’t like to think of my photography as performative because it takes away from the reality of life itself. Many events in life are impromptu, and I reflect that in my art.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration is everywhere for me— in my family, the world I live in, and in the events I’ve experienced or have yet to experience. I love adding cultural aspects and familiar elements because it makes my art feel personal while still connecting with others who share similar experiences. I wouldn’t say I find my inspiration from one source— anything can spark an idea, no matter how big or small because the beauty of art is that it doesn’t have to be too serious.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use this money as a tool to pay for my college education, as I want to pursue a life in art education and freelance art. It would tremendously ease the financial burden on my family as they support multiple children. I want to build a stable future for myself in this crazy world, and this would help me grow closer to that while also assisting in my journey to build a community of future artists I hope to teach, and continue on the path I’m working towards!
