When I display visual representations of my emotional process, it helps other people feel seen and understood. That is everything to me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love removing images from their original context and placing them into a new and imagined context that creates a visual representation of a feeling, behavior or process in photorealistic fashion. When I display my work at a gallery or at a festival and someone connects to it on a deep level, it lets me know that I have somehow made them feel seen and understood and, in doing so, it makes me feel seen and understood and also makes me feel more connected to humanity as a whole.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my own internal processes, but I also find inspiration in observing people and their attempts to connect and separate from each other, whether conscious or subconscious.
What would you do with $25,000?I believe that art should be accessible to all people. I would use $25,000 to develop courses for people to learn how to turn their own emotional pain and struggle into something beautiful -- showing them that in the process of creation, it is possible to facilitate your own healing.
