I make art to quiet my mind and release ideas I have into the universe. I taught art for almost 40 years and now I create for me.

Painting, printing, pottery and jewelry making/metal working have been my vehicles forever! The transition and experimentation of ideas from one medium to another help with a path of creativity and evolution. I’ve taken the idea of shapes/layers/textures and moved through mediums with all of them connecting all of the elements in one way or another. The overlapping of textures, creating layers, intertwining colors and shapes creates portals, depth and space making my abstractions and my pottery.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration fills every area inside and outside! Color, art history, travel, old sketchbooks inspire new ideas. When I’m working, using up extra paint in a journal. Seeing the pattern on cloth, the colors of a flower, the mid-century modern era, Woodstock- 1969, NOT 1999!! I’m incredibly inspired taking a new painting class with new people and a new teacher. When I’m lucky enough, I take new classes every summer to learn a new technique or a new art form to add to my current work.
What would you do with $25,000?First I would donate a portion to the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale, NY. They have inspired my work since summer of 2023, when I stopped teaching. I take classes there and support them whenever I can. I would also renovate both my painting/metalworking studio that have been utilized as more of a storage area while I was working. Now, I make my way through to my easel and table and haven’t really been able to get to the jewelry area for quite some time. The money would help me organize!
