As a young artist still trying to find my forte in art, I have worked with all kinds of mediums and subjects. Recently, I have been interested in life, death, and nature, especially how these concepts can come together through my imagination and motifs. I like to use both 2D and 3D art forms (painting and sculpture) to convey this subject because I feel like limiting myself to one medium takes away the freedom of expression.

When it comes to the inspiration for my pieces, I usually draw from my Mexican culture and real life experiences. In recent years I have been surrounded by death because of old age or sickness. Losing loved ones has brought me to think deeper on the meaning of life and death. There is beauty to the idea of death, I use this opinion to dictate the visuals I create in my art. When coming up with the beauty I want to portray, I look at artists that I follow and my old artwork to inspire me.

Currently I am a college student finishing my first year and going into my second, where I will study Jewelry and Metalsmithing. Naturally, I am compelled to use this money towards my education but I also can’t ignore those who have helped me get to where I am. My parents have always supported me and now as they are in a difficult financial position with two new babies, I would love to help them by giving them a portion of this money. $25,000 would be a blessing to me and my family.
