I love creating art that the person viewing it could feel apart of, imagine themselves in my work, and inspire them. I love using acrylics as well as graphite and pencil crayons in my work and my personal style is inspired by my ancestors and family within my tribe as a Plains Cree artist.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration within my own culture. I see it in my family through my grandparents and their homes, their stories they share, our celebrations like powwows and sun dances. I just love seeing my own people dance and how their regalia’s look with the many different styles and colours. It gives me inspiration within my paintings and drawings and I hope I show that through my work.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d use the $25,000 to finally get my own studio space so I can create outside of my bedroom and grow into a more dedicated, creative environment. Having that space would help me apply to more art shows and galleries and really expand my work. I’d also love to use part of the funding to travel and explore new places, which would give me fresh inspiration and help me create new art.
