I love creating art with ink, whether digitally or with traditional brush, paper, and ink. I like how ink can feel soft and fluid, but also aggressive and powerful. I enjoy both controlling it and letting it move in unexpected ways. Visually, I’m drawn to strong black-and-gray contrast, with small touches of color to highlight certain details or emotions.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in Chinese culture, mythology, old architecture, street culture, music, and the feeling of living between different worlds. I’m also inspired by misunderstanding. When Chinese culture is simplified or mistaken for something else, it makes me want to reinterpret it in a more honest and modern way.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to create a complete body of work and turn it into a physical pop-up exhibition. The funding would help cover materials, production, studio costs, photo and video documentation, and a temporary space. I’d also invite a few artists with similar cultural backgrounds to show work together and start building a small creative community.
