I enjoy painting with a mix of watercolors and acrylics, often working in a smaller ‘trading card’ size. This style was inspired by my children, who love carrying around little colorful cards. I’m drawn to creating small pieces you can put on your fridge, tuck into your purse, or mail to someone you love. Something simple that brings a smile.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration deeply rooted in nature, my children and their sense of wonder, and my animal rehab and sanctuary. I take each small detail and emotion and turn them into something tangible. Art is how I capture and remember these little moments and seasons in my life. I use my encounters and experiences, especially the animals I paint, to tell stories.
What would you do with $25,000?$25,000 would change my life. I would use it to continue to mold and shape my animal sanctuary, Wild Haven. I rehabilitate wildlife, and give permanent homes to domestic birds (ducks, geese, chickens, etc) that are injured or unwanted. Rehabilitating wildlife is an unpaid job, which I heavily rely on donations and my own cash flow to keep the sanctuary running. I have big dreams for my sanctuary. I have also started a nature based art/animal education program for kids, I am continuing to grow.
