I do use art to turn feelings into something visible, actually. There has been a lot of death in my family and art has been a good outlet.

I make a mix of things depending on what I’m trying to say. I’ve hand drawn books, done charcoal pieces for people (and myself) going through grief, and painted derby cars. Some of my work is meant to teach, like my alphabet and history based books, and some of it is just meant to give people something to feel or hold onto. I don’t stick to one style. I just follow what feels right for the moment.
Where do you find inspiration?Mostly from real life. My kids, daily routines, hard seasons, random ideas that won’t leave me alone. I’m also really drawn to history, nature, and older ways of doing things. A lot of my ideas come from noticing small things and asking questions about them. I like turning ordinary or overlooked things into something meaningful or interesting.
What would you do with $25,000?Honestly it would give me room to breathe and create more. I could invest in better materials, build out physical kits based on my books, and start putting together small workshops. I have a lot of ideas that are sitting there because of cost, so this would help me actually bring them to life and reach more people. Or help pay off debts and catch up in life.
