Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love to create ceramics. It’s an art form that is so complex and. Challenging; as well as unpredictable. It allows you to express your creativity but forces you to give in to it because it has control when you put your piece in a kiln, you have know idea what the kiln Gods have in store for you and your piece, so your inner self has to learn patience and acceptance, which is humbling and well as just an overall centering self worth.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find a lot of inspiration from my fellow ceramicists, but I find a huge part of my inspiration to be from the clay itself. When throwing clay, it has a destination it wants to go, and I find helping it gets there is extremely enjoyable for me; it’s a journey the clay is taking me on; and in thinking this way and allowing the clay to guide me with certain pieces, I have ended up with some very unique pieces that have turned out so unique and beautiful.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would invest most of the money into the at home studio my husband and I have been trying to complete for my ceramics since we moved into our house 2 years ago now. With his busy schedule and Denver’s rising costs, it has been a daunting task to get done. I would like to take some of the money and give it back to some of the organizations I have gotten scholarships from.
