Art has become my own form of therapy—a quiet, steady presence that helps me make sense of everything I’ve been through, a cancer survivor.

I’m drawn to creating images with mesmerizing eyes—they feel like a doorway into the soul, capable of expressing emotions words often can’t capture. Much of my work centers around sugar skulls inspired by Día de los Muertos, where each piece becomes a tribute to loved ones who have passed. For me, the sugar skull isn’t just a symbol—it carries memory, love, and connection. I try to layer that meaning into every detail, so the artwork goes beyond what you first see.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my emotions, experiences, and memories as a cancer survivor. Creating helps me transform fear and stress into something visible and meaningful. I’m drawn to expressive eyes and the symbolism of Día de los Muertos, using color and detail to tell deeper stories. My art is guided by feeling, allowing each piece to evolve naturally and connect on a personal level.
What would you do with $25,000?I would love to have a dedicated studio space where I can fully create and grow as an artist. Right now, I’m working out of a bedroom, which limits the size and scope of the pieces I can take on. Having more space would allow me to explore larger works and push my creativity further. More than anything, I want the opportunity to focus deeply on my art and see just how far it can take me.
