I was surprised when I became consumed by the pursuit of capturing the places that move me, on canvas. I paint my heart in those places.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I am a landscape artist. My best work comes when I can capture the awe I feel when confronted by a magnificent tree or the peace that water provides. Painting nature in realism is beyond my skill set, I try to create what my spirit sees. Does Spanish moss look like hair? It does to me, it adorns many of my trees and covers their naked branches. I paint the fairy tale that is nature.
Where do you find inspiration? The natural is far more interesting than the human although they mirror each other. Water is my inspiration. It provides depth and reflection...life to me and all that I paint.
What would you do with $25,000?My best work happens when I can take time off and sit on a shore and paint. The money would supplement the income that I lose when I do this. Painting is a solitary business that I share with select students, I rent a studio and teach classes the extra money would allow me more studio time.
