My favourite medium to create with is analog photography. In photography, I work only with analog film and develop film negatives in a darkroom. The type of art I like to create with analog film is a “photo poem”, which to me is the ability to tell a story in a photo without words. My style tends to lean towards the pictorialism and abstract style of photography with some hints of surrealism where I aim to bring to life the beauty, complexity and poetry in everyday moments.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everyday life - in nature and it’s wisdom and an appreciation for life’s complexity. I appreciate analog film because it allows me to slow down and puts me into a presence of mind where I am observing things in a multifaceted way, that are often overlooked. There have been many artists and thinkers who have inspired me throughout history and have shaped the way I see the world. Themes in my work also arise from memories and dreams and a deep listening to the subconscious.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, it would allow me the ability to access tools and resources to show my work on a broader scale. I am working on a broad scale, long term project, called The Kindness for Peace project that hopes to spread kindness, peace and understanding in the world and these funds will help me to reach a wider audience and give back to the world in a meaningful way.
