Painting women keeps me connected to the moment my mother first showed me how to draw.

Where do you find inspiration?I’ve drawn female figures since childhood. When I was seven, my mother taught me how to draw a woman’s face, and I continued sketching through school, receiving an art award in high school. After putting art aside for years, I returned to it after my mother passed in 2016. Painting women now feels both creative and personal, and in many ways keeps me connected to the moment she first sparked that creativity..
What would you do with $25,000?I started painting seriously during COVID after spending most of my life drawing. My work focuses on strong female figures inspired by the kind of resilience I grew up around. If I won, I’d invest it directly back into my work — creating more pieces and finally setting up a dedicated studio space. Right now I paint wherever I can make room, so having a real workspace would allow me to focus, grow, and produce a larger body of work.
