I create art to explore inner realities by way of image-making, and to express what I can't say in words.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite creation experiences occur when there are no avenues of expression left to me but making art, and when I have no concern regarding how I or anyone else will respond to the art when I've stopped working. When the creation occurs this way, the art feels truthful no matter what media or style I'm exploring,
Where do you find inspiration?I'm inspired to create by the emotional responses I have to experiences, stories, and dreams. Experiences can include colors and textures that surround me every day, the way animals move, peoples' eyes, music... everything I encounter, as long as I am present enough to notice. I'm inspired to experiment with mediums, methods and styles by all the art I see. Monet. Klimt. Rothko. Countless cafe artists, street artists, and those who post to social media. Most of all, kid art.
What would you do with $25,000?I would look for local (Colorado) scholarship funds that benefit kids' pursuit of art, music, writing, martial arts, etc–kids who otherwise would not have access to these explorations. I would donate the award to one or more of these funds.
