Painting on raw canvas. I like the resistance and the way it pushes back. I also return to fiber work because it slows me down and lets the image build stitch by stitch.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the streets of New York, especially in layers of torn posters and weathered surfaces. Decollage draws me in because it reveals what time, friction, and chance have already shaped. I’m drawn to what’s been worn down, pulled apart, and exposed. There’s a raw honesty in those surfaces that feels alive and unfinished, and it stays with me until it becomes part of the work.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest in the process, not the outcome, and give myself the freedom to make something I could not have predicted.
