After a lot of loss, creating art is my therapy. It simply is what I have always been & what has carried me through so many life traumas.

The kind that stirs emotion - often macabre, but sometimes more spiritual. Other times, I’m sculpting a small figurine for lighthearted smiles. I favor figurative work with a realistic flare & a bit of the unworldly mixed into it. My favorite tools are acrylic paints, colored pencils, & polymer clay. I like to use all three to achieve the feel I’m going for in each individual piece.
Where do you find inspiration? It’s all about balancing the inner darkness. My inspiration is my own pain & experiences; from my emotions; mostly deriving from grief & depression. I’ve lost too many people & that resonates with others who have also suffered loss… It is my hope that my artwork helps others find their own way of recognizing their own dark scars so there might be healing - I want to find the dark places within us & stick it into the light where it can be exposed & die.
What would you do with $25,000?It would go into my art business, That Girl Who Paints LLC. It’s been a struggle & does not yet support itself. I have two autistic children that suddenly lost their father & I need to show them, by example, that dreams can come true. I want them to think outside of the box & see opportunities when they are planning their own future roles in society. I feel deeply about that & the continuation of finding & serving those suffering emotionally through visual art expression.
