I love to create works that are deeply driven by materiality to tell a narrative. I work in glass and ceramic, so material science also plays strongly into what I can do with my materials. I’m currently fascinated by light - how it changes when it passes through something (glass, porcelain), and what it can do as a metaphor (shining a light on something).

I’m inspired by the people I see around me in The City; the million tiny interactions with strangers and friends that comprise my days. I’m also inspired by the myriad of books I listen to in my studio. Humans are strange and wonderful, and I love to learn more about people’s experience.

For me, $25,000 is a life changing chunk of money. I would spend about 20% on upgrading the lighting at my gallery, KnK Contemporary, and another small chunk buying a new, medium-sized kiln. I have a large one, and a tiny test kiln, but often find myself needing something in between. I also would spend some on technical education, and would take classes at Pilchuck or Murano.
